From the very beginning
Charidy Dunbar passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2023, at just 17 years old. While her life was far too short, the love she gave, the joy she shared, and the dreams she carried continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
Charidy was a proud senior at East Ascension High School, where she excelled as an Honor Student and proudly served as a Senior Maid on the 2022-2023 Homecoming Court. She was known by everyone because she never met a stranger. Her smile could brighten any room, her laughter was contagious, and her personality made people feel seen, valued, and loved.
She dreamed of dedicating her life to helping others. Charidy was CPR certified, was working toward her EMT certification, and planned to become a Pediatric Neonatal Nurse so she could care for children during some of the most important moments of their lives.
She loved to dance, make people laugh, and create memories that would last forever. She proudly called herself a social media influencer and would often say, "I'm about to break the internet." Whether she was creating TikTok videos, spending time with friends, or making her family laugh, Charidy lived every day with energy, confidence, and excitement.
At home, she was deeply loved. She adored her family, loved children, and had a naturally nurturing heart. She spoke her mind, always had a quick comeback, and somehow managed to get the last word with a smile. To her parents, she wasn't just their daughter. She was their rock star.
Her heart was genuine. Her spirit was joyful. Her compassion was effortless. She loved people without hesitation and gave her whole heart to those around her.
Then, in a single moment, everything changed.
Charidy's life was tragically cut short in a motor vehicle crash. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Her passing forever changed the lives of her family, friends, classmates, and community. While nothing can erase that loss, her story has become a powerful reminder that one simple decision can save a life.

Those five words are more than a slogan. They are the message Charidy's family wishes every young driver and every passenger would remember before every trip, every single time.
Rather than allowing tragedy to be the final chapter of Charidy's story, her family made the courageous decision to transform unimaginable heartbreak into hope.
Charidy's Angels was created so that her life would continue making a difference. Today, the organization is dedicated to promoting seatbelt awareness among adolescents, encouraging acts of kindness through community service and volunteerism, and providing scholarship opportunities for college-bound students who are working toward their own dreams.
Every presentation has the potential to save a life.
Every volunteer project spreads compassion throughout our communities.
Every scholarship helps a student move one step closer to the future Charidy believed every young person deserves.
Charidy may no longer walk beside us, but her love continues to lead us. Through Charidy's Angels, her legacy lives on by protecting lives, inspiring service, opening doors to education, and reminding every person that even one life has the power to change thousands.
This is more than a foundation.
